The Veil Cup
The Veil Cup: A Night Rite for Quiet Release
A small ritual to unbind the noise of the day and return to stillness.
When the moon leans thin and silver, pour the last cup. It need not be strong—just warm enough to hold its steam. This is the Veil Cup, a closing of the senses before sleep, a way to let the mind set down its sword.
✦ Step One: The Dimming
Turn off one light. With every switch or candle snuffed, name what you release: worry, anger, thought unfinished. Each small darkness becomes a promise to rest.
✦ Step Two: The Cooling
Hold the cup near your lips, but do not drink. Breathe across the surface three times, slowly. Watch the ripples fade—those are the echoes leaving the room.
✦ Step Three: The Sip Between Worlds
Drink in three measured swallows. After each, whisper a single word that feels like peace. The last word seals the cup. Leave the dregs to the dark; some things are meant to rest.
